I am discussing a case with a coder and wondering whether the provider has to specifically state 'abuse' in a case of domestic violence? If the documentation is clear that the patients husband beat her causing her injuries, isn't that sufficient?

    If you are trying to code abuse they need to call it abuse

    Don't they have to say physical abuse to capture the exact code? Would a query be in order for dx related to pt's physical injuries from her boyfriend with documentation (?history) of domestic violence?
