At one time I did see a formula to estimate how to figure out future CDI needs for your facility. Does anyone have that formula yet? Someone is finally listening and so I need to do the math. Thank you for your help!

I've used the CDI calculator on The Advisory Board website as well as recommendations from vendors and they seem to be close to the same (1 FTE per 2400 discharges). We can't afford that many CDI Specialists but it did help me increase our staffing.

Yes, I believe our consultant recommends 1 FTE per 1900 discharges.

  • The numbers for FTEE seem to range from 1,800 to 2,400 or so. That is the number I use for my data analysis, too.
