Iodine

We have been approached by a company called Iodine that is touting a software program to complement our current CDI software (3MCDIS) to identify and prioritize complex cases for CDI review.
Has anyone heard of them, seen a demo or is using this software?
If so, what are your thoughts?

Thanks,
Linda

  • We are not using them but I have heard of them. They use Natural Language Processing if I remember correctly) to identify chart with potential queries - missing specificity, no diagnosis documented for abnormal lab for example.
It can help the CDS work smarter by focusing on the chart with potential query opportunities vs working from a census with only an admission diagnosis.
If you have a hybrid record - probably won't work so well.

We have a homegrown process similar to this and it has helped focus our reviews.

  • It is very similar to a CAC program.
