Respiratory Insufficiency parameters
We are curious what parameters your institution uses to diagnose respiratory insufficiency. At our institution, we define it as needing increased pulmonary toilet from baseline to prevent deterioration. Use of oxygen for desaturations is also considered.
Does your institution define oxygen usage as a 'must have' to meet the diagnosis? What other factors do you consider?
