APR-DRG resources

edited March 2019 in Pediatrics
Hi all,

ACDIS is considering developing an APR-DRG resource and we'd love your input! If you have a moment, please answer the following questions:
  1. Would you be interested in a book or resource specifically geared toward APR-DRGs?
  2. What would you want to see included in the resource (i.e., guidance for a specific disease process, etc.)?
Thanks so much! We appreciate your input :)

  • Oklahoma is MS-DRG at this time so I have no need for a APR-DRG resource book. If it ever changes (or I move to another state that does use APR-DRGs) then a resource book would be helpful. I have a little bit of knowledge about APR-DRGs and SOI/ROM and do look at it when I am assigning codes on an inpatient case. Thanks!
  • Yes - this could be valuable since many organizations use APR-DRG stratification for quality reporting, independent of MS-DRGs that may be used for payment.  Also, some States that have Medicaid also use ARP for reimbursement
  • I am a CDIS working in California. All of my reviews are mother and newborn records, most of which are Medi Cal (the California version of Medicaid), which are paid on APR-DRG. A resource geared toward APR-DRG's would be extremely helpful, especially if the resource includes guidance for disease processes related to Obstetrics, labor & delivery and neonates. Thanks!

That is going to be absolute help
  • Absolutely, we are starting to venture down that road.
  • Hi from Chicago. I would be very interested in this as we do both MS-DRG cases and APR cases.
