Dependence of oxygen after Covid 19

How is everyone coding oxygen dependence after a covid illness? The scenario I'm trying to work through is a patient had a covid illness greater than 30 days ago and has needed oxygen at home since. Now patient in the hospital with acute heart failure. Do I query for a chronic respiratory failure? Would it be a sequelae or late effect? I'm not sure how to query for this.

Thanks,

  • It (continuous home oxygen) may be support to query for chronic respiratory failure.

    As below:

Dr. X....progress notes document this patient requires 2L oxygen 24/7 due to a stated, chronic manifestation of a previous COVID infection with PNA.

Cite any support, such any chronic hypercapnea:

    Current pC02 = 53 with pH 7.40

    Bicarb elevated on BMP 42

(Also cite renal compensation on a metabolic panel)
