What guidelines do we have for query compliance related to gathering peripartum maternal chart information as query indicators for the newborn?

I am not sure of your electronic medical record system, but our provides a link between the birthing parent and the newborn(s). We have been given the clear by our internal compliance team that it is acceptable to review information from the linked record when it directly pertains to the review we are conducting. On occasion, I have quoted the maternal record in a query to the newborn provider. This has been in cases where there is an "affected" newborn with lacking documentation of the etiology - so instances of confirmed chorio present in the maternal record but not in the newborn record, maternal GDM, maternal medication/drug use in pregnancy, etc.
