AHIMA CDIP

Hey all I asked this earlier and got no responses but the board seems quite active today so I am going to ask again. I am hoping to to take the AHIMA CDIP exam in a few months and wish to know how best to prep for it. I have been waiting for a review book by AHIMA and have not yet seen one. I am wondering how different it is from the CCDS and if it has a different focus. Any comments from those who have this certification would be appreciated.

  • Hi Laurie,

When I took the exam I used the CCDS Study Guide. The exam also has
questions about ABNs, RACs, Privacy/HIPPA etc. Know your governing bodies
    and rules.

Hope this helps and good luck!

You'll do great! I also remember it being stricter than the CCDS exam.
No books, your hand was scanned at the test site prior and after the exam.
I had no paper given to me but they did provided my a wipe off board.

I sat the Beta Exam and based my study from Ruthann Russo's book, "Clinical Documentation Improvement: Achieving Excellence".

I have heard since then that this book is "the study guide" for this exam.

AHIMA is now holding study workshops for this exam and this book is part of the "workshop package". A colleague of mine attended a workshop and told me they refer to this book as their study guide.
