badges/buttons?

Good morning all! We are attempting to become more visible and recognized on the floors. Many of our coordinators for CHF, MI, Sepsis etc wear white lab coats and it was suggested we wear those too because we are under "quality" in our facility along with that staff-but quite frankly, we don't want to blend in. We want to me more recognized. It is amazing how many providers think we are case management-even after we do 1:1 education with them, attend monthly hospitalist meetings, round on the floors, leave queries, ask verbal queries, call them, attend meetings, and have posters with our pictures hung ALL Over the hospital! :)

So, my question is...does anyone have suggestions for something simple to place on our badges? Or a button? We have thought about badge extenders that read "CDS" or even designing buttons that read "CDS-Clinical documentation specialists". I have looked online, and I can design one-on any given website, but figured if someone had a template already in existence that would be great! So, is there anyone out there that uses buttons or badge extenders, and if so where did you purchase them?

Thanks in advance!

Did you use a template or design it on a website? Thanks!

  • When we first started we were housed under the case management dept and since they wear white vests, our manager decided that as CDS we should wear black vests. We also have name badges that fit under our name tags that say various things like RN in bold letters and on a red laminated square that hangs lower than the name badge. The doctors, RT, Dietary, etc all have one as well each in a different color. We ordered them from a local printing company. The patients really like them because it easily identifies who is who. That being said, I still get confused with the case managers sitting right next to me.

Badge Buddies are what those labels are called - our hospital is supposed to be initiating them sometime in the near future.

We've been joking that ours will probably be ...brown...

We do wear black lab jackets with black scrub pants. We are still
referred to as Care Managers by nursing and physicians alike.
