Physician Education for ICD10-CM/PCS

We are beginning to look toward physician education for ICD10. Looking for best practice ideas, flyers, or helpful websites anyone would be willing to share.

Thanks,

Also would like to know what people are projecting for an increase in staffing (coders and CDI staff) for ICD 10 and how long the increase will be needed (approximately).
Will people be doing CDI on all payers?
    Thanks
    Colleen

  • Dorie, I responded directly to your email.

Colleen, We just had a HUGE expansion largely related to I-10. The decision was made last year that Sr. Management wanted a CDI review on all inpatients as well as some assistance with Outpatient. We went from a 2.5 FTE group at the end of last year only reviewing Medicare to an 8 person team (we recently completed hiring). We still have a lot of training to do to get everyone on board but ultimately we hope to be very helpful with I-10 transition. These are not temporary positions. We don’t foresee our staffing levels decreasing in the future.
