Joint Commission

We have had the pleasure of a Joint Commission review this week at our facility. One of the reviewers (an MD) pulled 2 queries out of a chart he was reviewing and gave positive feedback regarding asking for specificity of diagnoses. He had reviewed the entire chart as part of a patient tracer. The CDS was not on the floor at the time and he did not ask to speak with her.

Has anyone else had the experience of Joint Commission looking at their queries? If so, what was your experience?
I am curious if this will become a new avenue for Joint Commission?

Thanks,
Linda

I happened to be on the floor when we had our joint commission review. The physician review sat down and introduced himself to me and asked my name and job title. He asked me about the type of work that I did. He asked me to audit the chart with him and tell him what I saw as a documentation specialist and to talk to him about what I was thinking. It was a very positive experience. When we were finished he said that he could see the value of the CDI role.

    Thanks,
