What I miss most about not being at the bedside

What I miss mnost about not being at the bedside? The stories… being reminded of the fact that there are real people behind the diagnoses, the cases, the charts…

Kind of a good reminder that there are many reasons people come to our institutions seeking care. Some cases are more complex than others, but there are many that tug at your heart… Our care and diligence at our jobs helps our institutions to deliver the best care to our communities. We are part of that care!

I hope a postive reminder is appropriate for this list. Have a great Monday.

  • Even though we are not at the bedside, our contribution to a complete and accurate medical record that tells the story of the patient is also vitally important to patient care. It helps communicate to the next provider. When we review the medical record we can make sure important diagnoses are not overlooked. We know in our organization that all of us- from the first encounter to the last- are equally important in "our committment to deliver high quality, cost effective care in the communities that we serve" and deliver a compassionate patient experience.

Amen to that. Enhancing continuity of care is a key element of our program here as well since patients may seek care at any number of VA Medical Centers across the country and the record is fully available at each location. Clear, Complete, Precise, and Accurate are the buzz words.
