Malnutrition Consensus Article
Something that Dr Kennedy pointed out during the conference, there is a consensus article regarding malnutrition that was co-published by both A.S.P.E.N. and the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (the Journal of Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition and the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics). The article is in their May issues.
I suspect that this will be a very strong impact for all of us as we attempt to appropriately identify and capture malnutrition, especially in light of the attention the diagnosis receives with external auditors and other parties. Some of the conversation at the conference suggested to me that it is likely that those parties will very likely begin to apply the contents of this article to cases that are discharged following the date of publication.
