    Currently we are under case management along with UR. I could see this shifting though. The director of quality has been invited to most big meetings recently and is heading some programs that we have very direct involvement with at this time.

    the VA in general even though there is discussion to move under

    Here is my structure: I report to the Chief Medical Information Office (an MD who is also Director of Patient Safety, Director of ICU, Director of General Surgery) and he reports to the Chief Information Officer for the Health System , a VP. I am housed in the Information Technology Department.

    My structure is very beneficial - I get autonomy AND administration support. I get to make the case for CDI principles as we build the Electronic Medical System (Epic). I contribute to many other IT initiatives as well.

    This a wonderful structure for me - a former IT Specialist who worked the whole IT gamut from Assembler to Programmer to Web Designer to DB Admin to Program Director and Instructor for IT Community Extension activities at a University in Appalachia before deciding to become a nurse.

    A perfect marriage, if you will, of Best Practice Documentation principles and Informatics!

    Oh, Case Mngt reports to the VP of Case Mngt, Home Care, and DME. Our VP reports to the COO - both of whom are extremely pro CDI
