CDI in the Emergency Department

We are thinking of expanding our CDI program to the emergency department to work with physicians on documentation and patient status issues (obs vs inpatient). Our facility had attempted to place Case Managers in the ED and this effort failed. (I believe due to a lack of planning and a defined role).

Anybody ventured into the the ED? Please share.
