12 Hour Shift For CDI

Does anyone currently staff their department with CDI working 12 hour shifts?
Has any facility considered this as beneficial for capturing more time to speak to physicians?
Thank you for your information.

The just released staffing survey asked a question about the shift hours.
    No participant has a 12 hour shift, 77 8hrs, 1 4hrs, 2 10hrs, 5 combination (there were about 85 respondents total).

The ACDIS poll asked a similar question in Feb -- though did not offer a 12 hour shift option. about 7% identified a 10 hour shift. The older polls are available archived (link is under the current question).

For us, flexing the scheduled hours of work related to the typical patterns of the physicians on the specific unit seems to work -- it does seem to be very helpful to be here 5 days a week.

We are a 148 bed capacity facility but we utilize 88 beds at present. I
only review Medicare at present, but I will soon be looking at all
    payers probably.
