Adjunct CDI Instructor opening
ACDIS/HCPro is currently seeking a CDI Adjunct Instructor
We are seeking part-time Instructors who will teach our CDI Boot Camp and ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp. Candidates can be located anywhere in the United States. The CDI Boot Camp is an intensive, four-day course on clinical documentation improvement (CDI) in the acute-care hospital setting. The course is technically oriented and focuses on Medicare regulations and ICD-9-CM coding guidelines applicable to inpatient hospital services. The objective of the course is to provide participants with an overview of coding and DRG assignment as well as a detailed understanding of provider documentation opportunities by Major Diagnostic Category (MDC). The experience level of those who enroll in the CDI Boot Camp varies from those who have just been assigned the role of CDIS to those with several years experience, as well as those without a healthcare background who seek to gain more understanding of CDI. The professional demographics of those who attend include physicians, nurses, coders, administrators and consultants. The ICD-10 for CDI Boot Camp is an intensive, two-day course focused on additional documentation necessary for coding within the ICD-10-CM/PCS coding system. This class was developed for experienced CDI staff and requires the instructor to possess a strong understanding of ICD-10 CM/PCS. Instructors of both boot camps are expected to provide positive reinforcement and ensure that every student learn regardless of previous experience level.
Instructors must maintain a high level of competency in the subject matter covered by each assigned course. Instructors must possess excellent communication skills with the ability to convey complex concepts through personal experiences within the CDI profession. Instructors will be provided with course materials and may be asked to assist with annual updates and/or course revisions under the supervision of the CDI Education Director. Instructors may also assist with monthly Office Hours telephone conferences that are part of the on-line course experience. In these calls students interact with each other and the instructor via telephone conference call and ask questions about the CDI profession and course content.
Requirements:
1. Must be a dynamic public speaker with extensive knowledge of, and practical experience with clinical documentation improvement in the acute-care hospital setting.
2. Ability to travel for three to six days as needed 4-6 times per year to a variety of locations
3. Nursing licensure (RN) and/or health information management credential (RHIA, RHIT) required. CCDS preferred.
