Mortality Review
Good morning all,
I have been asked to join the Mortality Review Committee in order to include the review of documentation. Since I started over 2 years ago, one of my goals has been to optimize the APR scores of every record. Interestingly enough in just the few mortality meetings I have attended, about 99% of the reviews have demonstrated APR scores of 3 or 4's. When speaking to a colleague last week, they mentioned that there are documentation rules around mortality that would allow for reporting exclusions. They mentioned QNET as a resource for those rules. My CMO and Quality Manager have researched with no additional information. It looks like from a CDI perspective, raising the SOI/ROM is the only way we can have impact.
Has anyone heard of documentation that would lead to exclusions for reporting regarding mortality (with the exception of palliative care)?
Thanks so much for any light you can shine on this topic! I look forward to hopefully meeting you all at the conference!
