DRG 469 vs. 470

Good afternoon - I was having a discussion with my new director on DRG 469 vs. 470. Is there data out there, somewhere that shows an industry standard or regional of percentage of cases with MCC vs. w/o MCC? I checked out the Pepper Report which did not contain the information. Any suggestions where to look?

Thanks - Linnea

Benchmark used by our consultants for this DRG Pair is 10.6% of the time should have MCC.

  • The data in table 7 of the Final IPPS rule (FY12 Medpar data):

    MS-DRG Number of Discharges
    469 27,954
    470 423,963

    So, 6.2% with MCC
