paper / hybrid system

Hello All;

I have a question that I have not seen addressed in this venue yet. Are there facilities that are hybrid / paper charts that will not be electronic before ICD-10 goes live; and if so, what /how are you planning on implementing the changes to this.

    My facilities have hybrid electronic/paper medical records. We do not anticipate being fully electronic for 2 more years at least. To me, it would be much worse to anticipate major changes to our software too near to ICD-10 implementation.

    I expect ICD-10 to impact our productivity. I think that would be true even in an electronic environment though!
    Our basic process will not change. Our software (we happen to utilize JA Thomas for CDI) will work in the same way and support our ability to identify the relevant documentation needs.

    We are focusing on CDS education at this point (bio-med and I-10 codes) and will work with physicians more closely further into 2014.

    I do look forward to eventually being fully EMR!

    We are hybrid electronic/paper at present. We are most likely going
    fully electronic March 2014 --depending on any pushbacks....We use JA
    Thomas for CDI also and will most likely continue as we are.
