traumatic intubation

Hi all!
I have a patient with an out of hospital cardiac arrest, intubated in the field and brought to the hospital. On further examination, the patient sustained a traumatic injury to the trachea during intubation and may require a temporary trach.
I am thinking the Cardiac arrest (or underlying cause, if found) should be Pdx but I am not 100% sure because the tracheal injury is a complication of care.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

I would go with the underlying cause of the cardiac arrest if determined (or cardiac arrest if not). Would he have been admitted with or without the tracheal injury? Probably so.

If they get the trach, I think you could justify the tracheal injury as PDX- otherwise if main focus of care is w/u of cardiac arrest, then cause of cardiac arrest could be PDX.
