CCDS Question

Good Afternoon!

I'm getting ready to take the CCDS and have a quick question for those who have already taken it...

I understand that notes already in the DRG book are acceptable, as long as there are no loose papers etc.

I just wanted to see if anyone ran into any problems regarding notes in their book and/or the use of tabs dividing sections in the book.

Wondering if I need to remove my book tabs before I test or if they will be allowed...

Thanks!
Greta

I took the test recently - had several handwritten notes and had tabs
dividing the sections. I did not have to remove the tabs.

    Good Luck, Greta!

  • I had LOTS of written notes in my book as well as the divider tabs. There was no problem at all. Took mine last month.

    Good Luck :)

  • I had no problem at all with handwritten notes in my resource books
and no problems with tabs at the location I tested.

Hi- I had no problem regarding having notes in my DRG book. I left off my tabs because I wasn't sure about those. Good Luck !!! Charlene

    Hi Greta,
Great question! I was also concerned about this when I took my test. I was able to keep multiple handwritten notes and my tabs inplace. I even added some of my own tabs because I wanted more in other places.
    Good luck to you!

One of our team members is preparing for the exam. The department has a 2010 DRG book. Is it recommended to have the latest version? I don't recall needing to use the DRG book much when I took the exam.

    Thanks!

  • I have a 2014 DRG book; it is recommended that you have the latest version.
I know that there have been some coding/DRG changes since 2010 but you might ok using an older book for the test (you are allowed to use any version).
You just might want to brush up on changes that have happened in the last four years......
