We use JA Thomas at our facilities. They provide a pre-hire test for use in screening applicants. I highly recommend using a similar tool if you can locate one! I have had numerous experiences now where an applicant makes a very positive impression in the initial interview, but then does not gain a reasonable score on the screening test. It has saved me from some potential poor hiring choices!
I agree, having a Clinical Competency Assessment has been very beneficial. We use JA Thomas also, but we use the assessment as the initial screening tool - we only interview those that pass; which weeds out a lot of applicants.
