DRG expert

Good morning:

Does anyone know where I could get the DRG expert or does anyone have
one they want to get rid of? We don't use it in our everyday work, so I
do not have one. I can go on amazon or ebay but just wondered?

My email to respond privately mary.hosler@mclaren.org.

Thanks

I got mine from Amazon. It was cheaper.

    Thanks,

  • We don’t use the DRG Expert either. We use 3Ms CDIS product along with the MS-DRG & APR-DRG encoders.
I bought a DRG Expert just to take the CCDS exam in 2009. I opened the book for the first time the evening before taking (and passing) the exam.
One of my nurses worked in a couple programs at other hospitals prior to joining us. They used the DRG Expert in her previous positions, but now strongly endorses using an encoder.
    Thanks,

  • Hi Janet,
We do not use the DRG expert very much either. We are all electronic.

Mary, I have had the best results with Amazon for ordering a DRG expert.

  • Maybe ask your coding/him dept to borrow one. I wouldn't want to buy one if you don't use it really. I used a 2011 with no problem.

We are all electronic as well  - We use Claro and 3M products/grouper.

However, I use the written tools primarily (ICD9 Code book, DRG expert, 3M Quick Reference).
I jot notes in my books to remind me of coding clinics that may affect my DRG, alternate DRG options, and key hints next to any diagnosis that I do not come across as often.
for example under DRG 698, next to 996.64 I penciled in      FC / Suprapubic

Maybe I retain the information if I am forced to look it up?
