RE: [MARKETING] [EXTERNAL] RE: RE:re:Superfluous queries?
I need to add my two cents here. The VHA has had an integrated electronic record for many years. As a result I query to ensure that the chart is as complete and accurate as possible every time whether it has impact on DRG or anything else. The reason for this is this thing called "continuity of care". Our patients may seek care here or at an another VA facility during the course of a year and it's important to make sure that that other provider has a complete and accurate record they can refer to if they are seeing the patient on consult or for follow up.
Yep, it drives two of my hospitalists nuts, but the other six support it 110%. And to date only the two have considered a query "unnecessary". Fortunately for me, the Chief of Staff disagrees and holds them accountable when they don't respond.
Money does talk, but there are things more important than money out here.
