List of ICD-10 CC & MCC Codes (ADDITIONS from FY 2014)

Hello - Has anyone located a list of NEW CC/MCC codes effective for 1 Oct 2014? I have found the complete list of both, but it would be beneficial to review any new/edited codes on this list. Example: Some types of Atrial Fibrillation will be a CC in ICD-10. However, I simply stumbled upon this finding while reviewing the exhaustive listing of proposed CC/MCC codes for next year. Is not there a better way to find these so that we may all begin to review and revise our query forms?

  • Hello, Everyone

There is a list of (ICD-10) CC and MCC conditions, as well as ICD-9 CC and MCC codes and conditions on the ACDIS Website - I believe this is found under helpful resources or tools...this is how I downloaded a copy.

  • Hi, Dorie

Yes: I have this listing - but, does anyone have from this list those codes and conditions that were ADDITIONS to the CC or MCC list for ICD-10?

    Paul,
Where did you see that some types of A.Fib would be a CC? I don't see it on the list I have.

    Thanks Paul!

I48.1 is listed as Atrial Flutter on the CMS list. I did not catch that I48.1 is actually A.Fib. I guess we lost A.Flutter as a CC? Or do they mean A. Flutter will remain and listed the incorrect code? More questions than answers.

    CMS Draft MCC/CC listing (https://www.cms.gov/icd10manual/fullcode_cms/P0370.html)

    I481 CC codes Atrial flutter

  • I am using DRG Expert and it list the following as a CC

    I48.1
    I48.3
    I48.4

    Persistent Atrial Fibrillation
    Typical Atrial Flutter
    Atypical Atrial Flutter

    Sharon,
I believe that CMS list may not be the most updated list. I have found discrepancies in the past. My 2014 Optum Draft code set and the 3M training module both have I48.1 as persistent atrial fibrillation. A-Flutter falls into codes I48.3-I48.9. That being said, I am not sure what that means for the actual CC/MCC designation as none of the A-Flutter codes are listed on the CMS website as a CC/MCC and it seems as if it should be a CC. I am wondering whether the code set was modified to move A-fib to I48.1 but this was not reflected in the CC/MCC list?

    I don’t know....

If this is true the CMS website is inaccurate. I48.1 is the only code in that group listed as a CC.

Guess we will just have to wait on the Proposed and Final Rule from CMS. Seems like more questions keep arising rather than answers!

  • These are stated as CC conditions per pg 1023 of 2014 Edition of OPTUM DRG Expert.

  • Thanks for the great info Paul! The ICD 10 CC/MCC list I've been
referencing (from the CMS website) lists I48.1 as a CC but shows it as
"Atrial flutter"; however, I see that when I reference the Ingenix
coding book it shows I48.1 as "persistent Atrial fibrillation" and it is
indeed a cc. I like it!!!

  • It will be interesting to view the final list of approved CC conditions and codes issued for the next Fiscal year - bear in mind that is the official list.
