Mult sig truama
For the multiple significant trauma DRGs, are CC/MCC's that are associated with the codes that are making the patient meet criteria for this DRG excluded?
So for example: I have a trauma with a pdx of a spinal fx that also has an open fx of the radius/ulna. This is an MCC but it is also one of the two 'significant body site' injuries. When I put it in the encoder we do not get the DRG with MCC. I am assuming this is because you basically do not get 'credit twice' for this dx (you are already using this dx to get into a highly weighted DRG) but I want to make sure I am not missing something...
Thanks!
