EMR productivity on CDI process

Hello,
Does anyone have any data regarding the impact the EMR has had on the number of charts CDI staff are able to review? One of the speakers at ACDIS said the time it takes to review a chart has doubled. We just converted to an EMR last week, and we are already seeing issues!
Thanks so much for your help--

We use to do 20 - 25 a day,and query for everything. Now we are lucky if we get 15 done.
The EMR had made it difficult in telling the story.
You just can't turn the page anymore.
There are so many places you have to look for information.
Then the close chart.Lol reams of pages to look throughout. I had a chart 700 pages of nurses note. We are still a hybrid system. Love to hear what others have to say.

  • Interesting. We are in the process of converting to electronic record and have heard the same issues of a major "slow down" in review times. We will begin our conversion April of next year in phases throughtout the following months.....yep, intersecting with ICD-10. I am interested to see what others have so say on the subject.
