Metric reporting
Hi guys,
We have lots of information about what metrics to look at when reporting pgm success to the administration. I am wondering if anyone keeps a timeline for themselves for this work.
For example:
CMI, CC/MCC capture, DRG shift: Quarterly in line with PEPPER release
CDI staff productivity: Quarterly
CDI query compliance: Staff self-audit monthly, management review quarterly
Any other suggestions? thoughts?

I report the following currently, though there are other reports we would like to run, we are limited by software capability:
* CMI annually-I used to run this more frequently but wasn't finding it overly useful. I break out all payers-medical, surgical, total CMI. Separately, I run medicare-medical, surgical, and overall.
* Financial impact monthly and annually-includes only cases which have a positive impact on the DRG assignment. This report is further broken down to show if the impact was by concurrent or retrospective query to the MD. In addition, it also demonstrates the impact in cases where the CDI changed the DRG assignment pre or post bill drop with the Coding Department, and also tracks the # of referrals from the Coder's to query post d/c but pre-bill.
* Decreased relative weight/Decreased payment-this report was built for compliance purposes to track the # of cases where the documentation specialist may have suggested a lower weighted/paying DRG based upon documentation/clinical findings. This is run quarterly.
* Pepper report audit-quarterly review of PEPPER data and department meeting; audits conducted based on both high and low outliers-reviewed with Pepper workgroup/compliance.
* Expiration report-100% of expirations reviewed/tracked and reported on q6m-data includes CDI impact for pre/post soi/rom, pre/post r.w., and # of queries to obtain documentation and/or coding for palliative care.
Thanks,
Kerry
