Post op respiratory failure
Hi Everyone,
Any help with post op respiratory failure or respiratory failure in the post op period or management of mechanical ventilation after surgery, etc....would be greatly appreciated!!
We've been batting this one around for years or maybe it just seems that way.
Can anyone confirm whether or not codes 518.81 and 518.84 are included in the numerator for AHRQ PSI #11 in 2014?
When do you use code 518.51 versus 518.81 NPOA? Is this based on specific physician documentation or CDI/coder interpretation?
Does anyone have a "policy" of not documenting/coding respiratroy failure on surgical pts unless they've been vented greater than 48 hours?
