MD education

Our facility is working with MDs on a one to one basis for training. We are trying to develop a form that shows what the coding is and what it could be. Just wondering if anyone has something they are using/would be willing to share. m I looked at the forms/tools on ACDIS and didn't find anything that seemed to fit the bill.

Thanks,

  • IF you use an encoder to rough code major conditions as you perform CDI reviews, then it would be possible to compile the coding pre and post CDI review for review by the Attending, while sharing the SOI/ROM in each scenario.

Again -unwieldy and not practical unless you use something like Optum or 3M - show the impact w/o response to query and then response with affirmation of query.

I create handouts for physician orientation or specialty meetings that demonstrate the length of stay/ severity impact of documenting conditions. The punch line when showing these is 'what we don't want to see is the patient on line 3 DOCUMENTED as the patient on line one.'
