The hospice unit can have a different license and a different provider number, allowing for separate coded episodes and payment….it also ‘may’ be simply designated as a physical location within your acute care Medical Surgical Facility and operating under that same acute care (inpatient ) license..
It depends upon how your facility is licensed by your state.
If you hospice is operating within your acute care facility, all of the expired cases are formulated in your Observed/Expected Mortality Ratio.
