efficacy of Cerner with Midas

If anyone has used these two applications together could they share their experience please? I have used Cerner but am unfamiliar with Midas and how it works.

We do not have Cerner but use Meditech and Midas together. Midas is like a blank slate which can be programed for the functions one needs. Midas has a CDI template which can be modified/enhanced etc.

For us an interface was built for Meditech to connect with Midas which loads our census and demographic information. IT has built into Midas our 'worksheet'. My understanding is it is like any other software and can be adapted to the user(s) by IT.

  • We have both programs at out facility but up until now, we have not used CDR2 for our CDI worksheet. However, we are switching this fall and will then be using MIDAS for CDI. MIDAS is a very robust data system and currently this is how we as CDI use it most. We have database analysts that know how to basically run any report imaginable using MIDAS and this is what we currently use it for the most ('we' meaning CDI, Quality and other areas use MIDAS in other ways). I also have a worklist in MIAD where I perform my reviews of all mortalities. The primary reason for using MIDAS for ths is how easy it is to report back out of it.
Coming in the fall, the CDI's will be using MIDAS. They will have a worklist in MIDAS and we are currently designing a review tool that they will complete when they review patients. MIDAS does receive all our demographic and coded data but we do not have a reverse interface (though I have been told we could). This would allow us to have a worksheet imported back into the Cerner system but we do not plan on doing this at this point. Basically you can do virtually anything in MIDAS but you have to have someone who can build what you need.

I am not sure if anything I am saying is helpful as my knowledge is somewhat limited as well. Let me know if you have any specific questions.
