Yes, it does take you there. Quality came to us with Core Measure fall out related to this years ago which is why it came up. My understanding is that there are two underlying causes of R-sided HF. The first would be 2/2 to left-sided failure and the 2nd would be 2/2 an underlying pulmonary process (ex: pulm HTN). We were told that this 2nd type is better classified as Cor Pulmonale though I’d be interested to know other CDI/Coders thoughts on this.
