TIA in pregancy

Hello all,

I have a 39-year-old who presented with a TIA, who is currently 16 weeks pregnant. Her prinicple is 435.9 TIA. Her carotid ultrasound and echocardiogram were negative.

I am not familiar with obstetric cases, since I rarely review them. Does anyone have any suggestions for a query opportunity on this account. I was questioning if there was some way to link the TIA to the pregnancy or a pregancy related coagulapathy.

Thank you,
Melissa Owsley, RN

I would query if there is correlation and what is the etiology of the
    TIA if known.

  • Hi,

I am not familiar with OB either but if the pregnancy always takes precedence UNLESS UNLINKED (I thought- correct me where wrong), why would it be necessary to connect? I thought you had to get them to say they were unrelated when that was the case??

You need to know if the TIA is to be considered a maternal pregnancy
complication. What is etiology of TIA-occlusion, stenosis and which
    artery?
