looking to expand knowledge of CPT

I am interested in expanding my understanding of CPT and would like to reach out to this group to see if anyone may have some suggestions. Does anyone have any suggestions of classes/ courses you have taken in the past that you would recommend.
Any information is appreciated
thank you

  • I've never taken a class, but I know I learned a tremendous amount about CPT by preparing for the CCS exam. A CCS review class would likely benefit you both on the ICD-9/10 and the CPT side.

  • Perhaps visit the AHIMA website as they offer CPT classes on-line.

I would suggest trying the American Academy of Professional Coders website as well as AHIMA for CPT coding advice & resources. Their website is www.aapc.com. The book "Principles of CPT-Coding" by American Medical Association is especially helpful when trying to understand the outpt/CPT coding system. I recieved my CPC-H credential thru the AAPC as they were the specialist in CPT-coding when I obtained certification for hospital outpt./ambulatory procedures.. Good Luck!
