Does anyone have a presentation regarding CDI for staff nurses?

I use the list from CMS regarding the 10 Hospital Acquired conditions. I also print off 2 frames from 3M. I use principle dx sepsis, secondary stage 3 decubitus and procedure excisional debridement. I run it through with the decubitus as POA and then POA. I review the HACs and how their documentation is supportive for the physician. I show them the DRG, weight, LOS, reimbursement with and without POA. I think it helps them to have a broader knowledge of our reimbursement system and how it works. Many of them I found didn't have any idea. I also make some true false questions with documentation, POA and I throw in observation status-I explain if a HAC occurs during an observation stay that it is POA when patient becomes an inpatient. I use that when they appear restless or I save it for the quiz knowing I will need to review it. They really appreciate the inservice.

Nothing yet, but I'm working on a CEU program on nursing documentation in general with a few of the other nursing staff here. Focus is on bad charting habits, abbreviation use, etc.
