Electronic Queries?
Hello!
Is there anyone out there using Siemens Soarian who has implemented an electronic query process?
I just found out that our hospital has plans to implement electronic progress notes in March.
Of course I have concerns regarding how my queries will be formatted, reach a variety of providers and be answered!
If anyone has any comments/suggestions for how to successfully implemented an electronic Query process (with any system not just Siemens) I would love to hear it.
Do you send your queries to the attending only as a message, are your queries documented on a progress note so all providers can see it, etc?
Thank you,
Greta

Comments
Our queries have been electronic now for over a year and it is working well.
We have 20 standard queries and they were uploaded into McKesson and we complete the queries with clinical indicators and then send them on to the physician.
The queries are directed to the a deficiency box for the physician. Once answered they are a permanent part of the electronic medical record.
Believe it or not, we have a higher level of responsiveness with our electronic queries than we did with our paper queries.
Good Luck

Thanks!
Having it show up as a deficiency is a good idea.
Do you have any penalties for physicians who don't answer the query, is the deficiency held against them?
Thanks!
