Anyone see SIRS criteria changing in their facility due to the Surviving Sepsis Campaign?

  • Actually, just TODAY our SEPSIS champion/Coordinator said that changes are forthcoming in OCTOBER! I just have not had a chance to look further into it! :)

I just want to throw caution out there. SIRS "criteria" is different than Sepsis "Indicators". Committees are viewing sepsis indicators to mean SIRS criteria. They are not the same. SIRS is SIRS and should not change. Sepsis indicators can change.

  • Please be aware that SIRS used in conjunction with an infection will no longer 'default' to Sepsis with ICD-10 - probably an appropriate change, in my opinion.
