Sepsis secondary to influenza sequencing

Greetings,

How is everyone coding Sepsis secondary to influenza (unspecified) at your facility? It appears to be a topic of debate in terms of final sequencing of the Pdx.

This is what I found on AHIMA.org:
"Excludes influenza (487.0-487.8, 488.01-488.19) that is why we cannot use 038.9 for sepsis due to influenza.

Just looking for any support on influenza as the Pdx versus the Sepsis? I appreciate your help!

    Hi Lara!

Interested in knowing where you found that info on ahima.org. I used the search button and could not find anything.
    Thanks for further clarifying.
