RE: RE:[MARKETING] [EXTERNAL] Querying more than one physician
We do not go to another provider when the queried provider has answered 'unable to determine'. There may be very specific circumstances where this is acceptable, like if additional information is added to the record, but in general I do not think it is very defensible practice.
I think there are a few things to think about here:
1. if the queried provider is unable to determine but you believe another provider would be able to answer, why was the initial query not sent to this provider in the first place?
2. If you do re-query, you would still need the attending to confirm the dx, in my opinion. I would treat one 'unable to determine' response and one definitive response a conflict and the attending would either need to clarify to confirm, or their response would stand as the final statement.
