RE: [MARKETING] [EXTERNAL] Diabetes Criteria

Here are the references I have. I would say that anything outside of this range would be "uncontrolled".



References:

Recommended A1C levels are set by two organizations, the Association of Clinical Endocrinologist and the American Diabetes Association.

· The ACE recommends A1C levels of 6.5 percent or lower, which is average blood sugar reading of 135 mg/dl over a two - to - month period.

· The ADA recommends A1C levels of 7 percent or lower, which is an average blood sugar reading of 150 mg/dl over a two - to three - month period.



Also, ICD-10 uses different terminology for control in ICD-9. In ICD-9 it’s either controlled or uncontrolled. Very black and white and hard for providers to remember. For ICD-10 it can be Inadequately controlled, Out of control, Poorly controlled, Hypoglycemia, and Hyperglycemia.
