Having lived a previous life as a case manager I think this is more of a
utilization management issue than a CDI issue. It sounds like the
Residents are busy ruling things out and haven't gotten an answer yet so
personally I would be reluctant to query, but perhaps an informal
discussion asking why they are keeping the patient may be appropriate.
I'd also ask the case manager what's going.
