RE: [EXTERNAL] RE:Morbid Obesity along with joint replacements
I agree with Katy.
These are the Guidelines - note the reference to 'increased nursing care and/or monitoring' = reportable.
Ask yourself if an RN has to provide 'increased nursing care' for a pt with a total knee that has a BMI of 25 versus a patient that is Morbidly Obese with a BMI of 45...of course, the answer is "YES". There are increased demands that need to be met when caring for a Morbidly Obese Patient.
