Coma is a difficult diagnosis from the medical literature perspective. There are a number of dx's that have specific and widely accepted clinical literature. I have not been able to find the same with coma.
That being said as a caveat ... I am attaching a documentation tip I've done for medical staff on Coma.
I believe a significant part of the challenge from the perspective of medical staff is they feel a number of terms are either synonymous or actually clinically more specific than the term 'coma'.
