ICD 10 webinars/education methods
Hi
Was wondering if anyone had any helpful webinars or education tools for ICD 10 clinical documentation improvement. We have had training by 3M and have some additional reference material but also would like to have some idea of what others are doing in preparing for ICD 10.
Thank you

We have had our consultant group come in April and May, (CLARO) and for 2 weeks they provided live education for each Specialty group (not mandatory with some poor attendances) relative to changes they would see/ need to document with I-10. Claro also prepared Webinars for the those providers who didn’t make it to the live session, and they will be able to watch those as well.
The CDI team continues to dual code and amend existing queries, and build new query templates for issues we know we will encounter, and are encountering by dual coding. The coders are dual coding charts as well, and when we find issues that need clarified (that are not currently being documented on), we put that info on a spreadsheet with one person from each Institution and/or Specialty group then responsible to go back and disperse/educate and notify the providers of what will be needed related to I-10 and what they are not used to documenting... ie; (which part of colon is being used to form colostomy). This has taken some of the responsibility off the CDI team and placed it on the providers. I personally think dual coding each chart is giving us a good idea of what we will encounter before the transition so we can resolve these documentation issues before OCT 1!
The CDI team has also created an "informational sheet" that we placed on the INTRANET at our hospital to notify providers of upcoming needs relative to documentation for their specialty.
The CDI team has had I-10 to training with HCPRO recently and we also enroll in Webinars through ACDIS/HCPRO as well. We have and ICD 10 steering committee and meet monthly to ensure coders/HIM Staff/CDI and providers reps are kept abreast of new and or urgent needs or requirements.
At this point, we think we are doing ok, but its one of those things that we "don’t know what we don't know"!
Good luck!
