mechanical vent time

I have a patient on the vent. If the patient self extubated but was reintubated does this start a new count time or can I consider this a continuation of the initial insertion. It was 00:35 when patient extubated self and 0130 when reintubated. (we are a small rural facility and at night anesthesia is only on call and not in house).

    Please check coding clinic 1Q2013,p10. Looks like it does not interrupt vent time.

    Correct..it is the same as if they have to change out a endo tube. Time continues.
