QuadraMed and Queries

I was recently told that QuadraMed has the capacity to send an emailed query to a provider. I'm wondering if anyone else has heard of this and if anyone is using it?

Thanks much in advance.

We have Quadramed and I haven't seen this feature. However, it may be a little something "extra" you will need to pay for and I'm sure we haven't looked into it if that is the case. ;)

Our EMR is still in its Hybrid phase and we leave paper quries in the paper charts on the floors. I would love to have the ability to email queries to physicians. We use HPF for EMR and my goal was for the query to be listed as a realtime or concurrent deficiency in the EMR that must addressed before the chart can be marked complete and removed from their deficiency list in HM.

BTW Robert- enjoyed the article regarding eQuery software included in this quarter of the ACDIS CDI Journal! When I read the article I thought, "that's 'our' Robert from CDI Talk"! Way to go!

LOL, thanks for the feedback. Must be my MSN in Nursing Informatics talking.

  • Norma, be careful what you wish for. Our response rate with e-mailed queries is painfully low, vs. a paper chart query. I think a major reason (aside from docs not opening their emails) is that you have to choose a specific doc on the email, but a paper query can be read and answered by anyone opening that chart.

Aside from leaving queries, if we educated physicians as opposed to just leaving queries, we would not have to query as much and the issue of nonresponse to queries would be less of an issue. What a novel idea

That is a great idea, although I believe even with education, we would
still be querying. I think the statement "out of sight, out of mind"
reflects a true scenario more often then not.

An interesting trend I have noticed is if I am off for more than one day (there is only one CDS here) my query rate is much higher when I return for about a 1 week period.

  • You mean the physicians who, despite massive amounts of education, still consider documentation to be an intrusion on patient care, or just the ones who, despite massive amounts of education, repeatedly have to be guided back to the correct path? Something like the drivers on the highway who know the speed limit but don't follow it except when the cop is parked on the side of the road.

I don't appreciate the implied insult that I haven't been doing my job.

There was no insult, it was a blanket statement regarding the woes I
encounter. Sorry for the mis- message.
