PICC Line

We do not code PICCs in CDI at Temple Health. We only code procedures that impact the DRG. We made this decision based on ICD-10 PCS complexity. Just curious about what others are doing & why.

  • I only expect the CDI's to assign a working DRG so they do not have to code other procedures (or the Pdx for that matter, depending on the case) . However, we are responsible for making sure PCS-related specificity is in the record and are responsible for all retro queries so ensuring that the documentation is there, is our responsibility and the encoder is a good tool to make sure we have everything we need. Especially at this stage where were do not necessarily know off-hand...

We do the same as Marty' CDIS - assign procedures that impact DRG.
