I'd like to ask the group what criteria you use when performing second
level review. Is this simply when the working and final DRG are
discrepant, or do you include cases for which coders and/or CDS need
education? How do you differentiate your CDIP second level reviews from
the HI compliance audits? We've never had a second level review process
in 9 years. Our annual compliance audit for HI also evaluated CDIP. I'd
like to think in terms of more immediate feedback than annually.
